A Japanese cast iron teapot has a presence before it ever pours. The weight feels steady. The textured surface catches light in small shadows. The moment slows without being asked.

This Kin/Kuro Gold and Black Hobnail cast iron tea kettle is crafted in Japan by Iwachu, whose foundry in Morioka has shaped tetsubin for generations. The raised hobnail (arare) pattern, long associated with resilience and strength, wraps the deep black body in quiet rhythm. Subtle gold accents add warmth without excess. At 0.65L (22 oz.), this cast iron kettle is sized for two or three cups — enough to linger, enough to share.

What Makes It Special

  • Traditional Japanese cast iron teapot (tetsubin)
  • Classic hobnail (arare) texture symbolizing strength
  • Rich black finish with refined gold detailing
  • 0.65L (22 oz.) capacity, ideal for 2–3 cups
  • Cast iron tea kettle construction for excellent heat retention
  • Made in Japan by Iwachu, respected for heritage craftsmanship

How to Use

  • Rinse and warm the cast iron tea kettle with boiling water before brewing
  • Add loose-leaf tea and pour hot water (not for stovetop use)
  • Allow tea to steep at its own pace
  • Rinse with warm water only and dry thoroughly after each use

Crafted in Japan

Made in Morioka, this Japanese cast iron teapot reflects centuries of careful ironwork. The hobnail pattern once strengthened armor; today, it strengthens the connection between tradition and daily ritual.

Solid, balanced, and enduring, this cast iron kettle is not simply for brewing. It is for slowing down. For pouring deliberately. For sharing tea in a way that feels both grounded and generous.
