A black iron teapot sits quietly on the table, heavy yet balanced, its dotted hobnail surface catching the light. This very traditional design—known in Japan as arare—has been used for centuries. The deep black color holds steady, keeping its shape and presence over years of use, much like the ritual of tea itself.

To pour from this cast iron tea kettle is to take part in that tradition. Its size, just enough for two or three mindful cups, invites you to slow down. Warm the pot, steep the leaves, and let the moment unfold. This Japanese cast iron teapot does more than brew—it creates a rhythm of calm and continuity.

Crafted in Japan

For centuries, cast iron tea kettles and teapots have been treasured in Japan for their durability and quiet beauty. This hobnail (arare) design reflects one of the oldest and most beloved styles, both decorative and functional.

Made by Iwachu in Morioka, the most renowned foundry for cast iron, this iron teapot embodies true craftsmanship. Each pot is carefully finished to retain heat evenly and to grow more seasoned with time. More than a vessel, it is a piece of culture—linking today’s tea ritual to generations before.
