Before First Use (Seasoning)

To help seal the porous clay and reduce the possibility of water seepage, perform the traditional Medome process before first use:

1. Wash the pot thoroughly and inspect for any cracks or chips.
2. Fill the pot about 80% full with water.
3. Add approximately one-tenth cup of flour or starch.
4. Bring to a gentle boil.
5. Turn off the heat and allow the pot to cool naturally.
6. Discard the contents.
7. Allow the pot to air dry completely (about one day) before using.

Some slight water seepage may occur initially due to the natural properties of clay. If needed, repeat the seasoning process two to three times.

How to Use

• Use low to medium heat, especially during the first few uses.
• Always place the pot on a trivet or heat-resistant surface after cooking.
• Allow the pot to cool naturally before washing.
• Dry thoroughly before storing.

Do Not:

• Heat the pot when empty.
• Use for deep frying or oil-heavy cooking.
• Expose the hot pot to cold water or sudden temperature changes.
• Use in a microwave, oven, dishwasher, or dish dryer.
• Store food inside the pot for extended periods.
